The Solid Waste Data Tracking System (SWDTS), developed by Innovative Solution Pvt. Ltd. with financial support from UNDP, in collaboration with KOICA and Pokhara Metropolitan City, is a comprehensive Information Management System (IMS) designed to improve transparency, coordination, and data-driven decision-making in Pokhara’s waste management sector. Addressing critical gaps in waste data accuracy, SWDTS collects and integrates real-time information from a wide network of stakeholders—including municipal offices, private waste service providers, community organizations (TLOs), and recycling enterprises.

The system meticulously tracks daily waste collection volumes by category—organic, recyclable, and landfill-bound—while linking this data to specific service providers. It incorporates vehicle and route monitoring tools that enhance operational efficiency by optimizing waste transport logistics and ensuring accountability in collection processes.

In addition to collection tracking, SWDTS enables advanced waste data analytics, empowering the municipality to visualize trends, evaluate service provider performance, and plan strategic improvements. The system also includes dedicated modules for landfill site management, with features like landfill log tracking and soil fill logging to monitor waste burial progression and soil cover usage—critical for environmental compliance and estimating site lifespan.
